Determining The Effects of Concentration and pH on The Fluorescent Light Output of Sodium Fluorescein

This experiment investigated a protein dye called sodium fluorescein. The dye was mixed with water and hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide to vary the concentration and pH of the solution. The fluorescence of the solution was measured by the light intensity produced when the liquid was illuminated by blue light. A two factor Design of Experiment was performed on the data and according to the results, only the pH of the solution had an effect and increased the light intensity of the solution.
